The Hotchkiss Library of Sharon was selected as one of 200 libraries nationwide to receive a $10,000 grant from the American Library Association’s American Rescue Plan: Humanities Grants for Libraries in February 2022. We will use the funds to digitize, preserve, display, and sponsor presentations on the collection of historical posters discovered in old table drawer during our move in July 2021.  There are posters from World War I, World War II, National Children’s Book Week, Connecticut State Governors’ Proclamations, and a few amazing local posters, including one from the Fourth of July 1918 announcing activities on the Sharon Town Green.  They are in remarkably good condition and offer a glimpse into our nation and town at critical moments in our history.  We are honored to receive this grant and are excited to begin the process of preserving and presenting these artifacts to the people of Sharon.

Over a hundred posters to be digitized.
